How to save money while house moving
Moving house is incredibly expensive, and there is little escaping that unless you are prepared to look at how to save cash in the less obvious places. With the property itself taking a fair chunk out of your earnings, and then the hidden expenses like agency fees, solicitors costs and all sorts of other things. The last nail in the coffin is that the move is going to cost you a fair bit of cash to do right. You are likely pretty well prepared for this, and have budgeted as such, but in many ways, it is always best to save where you can, so a few hints and tips for saving a bit of cash will often help you out along the way.
First off, get a good value removals company
There is no point in just paying loads for the service, you need to know that you are getting a good deal. That does not mean the cheapest option either, as many removals companies won’t give you a great service, no matter what the price is. You need an experienced removals firm who are going to treat you and all of your things a great service, so that you are always confident in their abilities and the safety of your belongings. A bad removals company can lead to breakages, and therefore a lot of wasted money. You don’t want to pay for a removals company only to find that you have to then pay to rectify their mistakes.
Man with a Van
If your move is a smaller one, then a man and van will be a lot more sensible for your needs. Man and van services are offered by many removals companies, or you can go private. Finding a man and van is easy, but you should get a few quotes and prices in to get an idea of the lay of the land in your area by way of price ranges. A man and van means that you will have a lot less help with moving things than if you used a removals company, but it will be a lot, lot cheaper, so if you don’t mind rolling up your sleeves and getting involved, then you should be fine! Ensure that you and anyone else who helps you are able to lift heavy items safely, and that you have labeled fragile boxes carefully, so that nothing gets broken and undoes the savings that you make!
Packing for you house move
Work out where to get your packing boxes for cheap. Whilst you need to avoid any faulty boxes, and keep safety in mind, there are always ways to find cheap boxes from various sources online. In some instances, you can even get them for free, which makes things a lot less expensive indeed! In the event that you find some cheap boxes somewhere, work out how much your travel expenses will be before you agree to them, and work out whether the savings are actually worth the hassle. Having new boxes delivered to your door may actually turn out to be only a little extra, which could be much more worthwhile use of your time than trekking ages to get the second hand ones!
Plan you house move
Saving cash is easy if you are well planned and have time to work out how and when you are going to do so. However, it is essential that you don’t cut the important corners in a way that jeopardizes the safety of the move itself. Neglecting preparation and packing for the sake of a couple of quid is not going to help you in the long run.
