Booking a man and van for your rental removal

When you are renting a smaller house or flat, it is rare that you will need a full size removals company. Removals companies are perfect for completion day moves, where the pressure is on and time is of a premium, but with a rental, and a small one at that, you will likely only really need a man and van service. The beauty of the man and van comes in its flexibility. You will find that it is perfect for everything from getting things to and from storage units, to a full move of a small flat. Even just moving a little bit of furniture around town or some equipment to a venue or anything of the sort.

There are so many man and van services across Britain that you will always be able to find one to help you out. However, there comes a lot more difficulty when you need a really good man and van, as well as a decent price for the job. Money is not exactly easily dispensed with, so it is often best to do your research in the hope of finding a great man and van service, rather than risk wasting your time with a bad experience!

man and vanHave an ask around of your friends. Many people use man and van services all the time, and they will usually have a favorite. Most man and van services will not get repeat business unless the job goes well, so you know you are on the right track. Some man and van drivers don’t even bother to advertise; they don’t want strangers having their phone numbers,  and don’t really need to hustle for new customers, as they get enough recommendation work form their existing ones! So, finding a man and van service this way is the best, but sometimes people will not be able to steer you in the right direction.

Have a look for adverts on the notice boards at your local rehearsal space, self storage facility, or anywhere that larger items may need to be transported. Some removals companies will even offer man and van services for a respectable price. In these instances you know that you are getting someone who either advertises cleverly, and likely has a decent amount of experience, or will be properly trained by the removals firm. These are much more attractive options than the hoards of people who put their details up on free advert sites, where it takes about five minutes to setup as an official looking man and van service. It is certainly a concern that people may be being fleeced for their cash by people posing as van services online, so be sure to meet and talk about the service, rather than just booking someone blindly.

You need to think about how you want to pay the driver as well. Depending on their preference, services will usually fall in to the hourly rate or full quote categories. You can save a decent amount of money if things go smoothly on the hourly rate jobs, but if you do not want to have any risk in your move, then a quote may be more stable. It is highly unlikely however, that outside the event of a serious accident, the service will be delayed to the point that the hourly charge exceeds that of the quote. However, the risk is up to you, and whether you can plan carefully enough to make it all work...
